Senate Insists NNPCL Must Account For #210tn

The Nigerian Senate has clarified that it never accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) of stealing N210 trillion but insisted that the company must provide full accounting for the staggering figure reported in its financial records.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West made the clarification following the rescheduling of an investigative hearing due to the absence of the NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bayo Ojulari.

The senator explained that the demand arose from discrepancies in NNPCL’s audited financial statements, particularly concerning unsubstantiated liabilities and vague asset claims.

According to him, the committee expects NNPCL’s leadership to clarify and reconcile the conflicting figures in person.

He noted that a new date will be communicated for the next investigative hearing.
